Hi! If you're reading this, you want to shoot with me at MAGfest 2025. Sweet. But before we do, please read through this page to gear up for what expectations to have and also the expectations I have as your hired professional.

Shoot slots are 1pm and 2pm on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

MAGfest Shoot Costs

PAYMENT PLANS ARE AVAILABLE. Half upfront and half due at the con.

Shoots for MAGfest start at $275 for solo cosplayers. $350 for pairs (so $175 each).

Up to 30 minutes of shoot time.

6 Photos of your choice for solos; 7 for pairs.

Payment Methods

I accept payment through Venmo, Zelle, or PayPal.

COVID-Conscious

I am fully vaccinated and require all clients to be as well.

I understand COVID can bring unexpected absences - personally I will be quarantining at home for two weeks before the con to ensure I am healthy and safe to perform my shoots. I know not everyone has that luxury, so if you are at risk for contracting COVID, I may not be the photographer for you due to my refund policy.

Refunds Etc

Refunds are not given for convention shoots, for any reason. This is because I often get 50-100 inquiries and accept about 10-12; I could have used that slot for someone who could have shown up. By booking with me you agree to this policy.

Rescheduling within the convention weekend will incur a $75 fee. I cannot guarantee I can accommodate you with my other shoots and obligations, but I will do my best.

Rescheduling outside of the convention timeframe (for example, if you're visiting Boston or NYC, or I happen to be doing on-location shoots near your town) incurs a $100 fee.

Rescheduling for other conventions is not permitted.

Publishing

Clients are given full online publishing privileges of the photos taken. In no way may the photos be altered - absolutely NO additional editing is allowed. No color correction, facial retouching, anything beyond what I have delivered as a finished image.

Because this has gotten some people confused in the past, please read up on basic copyright on photographs when you pay a professional, and understand the usage rights you're given by hiring one.

Print/Magazines

Often, cosplayers want to use their images in magazines to be featured. That's great, and I support them and I love seeing our work in a publication. However, if the publication charges for their issues, that's a problem, because someone else is making a profit off my work. It gets tricky, y'know?

Magazines are filled with ads, those ads pay the publishers so everyone buying the issue can see their ads, the publisher makes profit, the advertisers make a profit and independent artists filling that magazine don't make anything.

If your photo is approved for a magazine feature, and that magazine charges money, I ask a $50-100 fee for one-time publishing rights.

Editing Turnaround

I return edited photos 4 weeks after the convention. I work very quickly and take limited bookings to ensure expedited edits are a standard with me.

One week after the con, I deliver preview images in a gallery for you. These images will be watermarked in the middle, and are not allowed to be published - they are there for you to choose your favorites. From there, you will email me back with your favorite images, and I'll edit them for you.

Editing: What you see is what you get. I do NOT add artificial lighting, superpowers, glowing props, overlays, or anything in post-production. I photograph the costume as it is presented. I also do not heavily retouch faces. PLEASE look at my work and decide if this is comfortable to you. I am not fond of overly-edited faces and will photograph the face that you brought to the shoot.

Before the shoot...

Please iron your costumes, and smooth out wig flyaways. Trim any loose threads and frayed fabric. This adds a TON of time to my editing that I could be using to enhance the photo. I say this fondly, but I'm not your mother, so please make sure you take care of the costume before the shoot because I'm not here to fix it in post; I'm here to capture what you've brought.

I can fix stuff in post, if something awful happens and you're running behind and -- well, we all know shit happens! I can do it, but I don't like to, and it's something you should be responsible for as a cosplayer. I'm here to photograph you, and it is respectful to understand that and not assume I can simply fix anything "because I know photoshop". Many photographers have different styles and policies, so I just want to be very upfront with my expectations and what I'm comfortable doing.

For anything extraneous that you need fixed, and in the event I can fix it in post, there may be an upcharge per edit.

Running late?

If our shoot starts at 2pm, and you show up at 220pm, and your shoot is 30 minutes, we shoot for ten minutes.

I time everything very down to the nose for conventions. Please do not book a time that you aren't certain you can commit to.

Extra edits

$50 apiece!

Handlers

I absolutely love when people can bring a handler. I cannot act as a photographer and bag-holder, so please consider asking a friend to tag along if you think you'll need someone to hold your personal belongings, or if your costume is detail-oriented, fragile, large, etc, in any way.
